Executive Chef/Owner


Frank Triola started planning his restaurant’s menu when he was just a kid, but its name eluded him for years. Frank’s grandfather, Frank Azzarelli, was always his inspiration. Azzarelli, The Aristocrat of Italian Dining, opened the first Italian restaurant in Houston, Azzarelli's Spaghetti House, in 1945. Frank Azzarelli became The Italian Icon, and his restaurant a tourist attraction, luring out-of-town diners like Bob Hope and Marilyn Monroe. 

Triola never knew his grandfather, never ate at Azzarelli's. But he knew one day he would take up where his grandfather left off. He also knew that he needed more than family lineage and a dream to be successful; he would need years of hard work and a well-rounded education. So, at age 19, after having waited tables throughout high school, Triola embarked on a homespun curriculum in the restaurant business. 

Triola starting cooking in many different restaurants just to gain operational experience, including the fabled Grotto in Highland Village. When he was named the general manager of Romero’s, his customers began asking him for his Grandfather Azzarelli’s signature dish, stuffed mushrooms. This inspired Frank to start the process of opening his own establishment.

In 1998, critically-acclaimed restaurateur and chef, Frank Triola (grandson of Frank Azzarelli), resurrected the legendary Azzarelli's, Houston’s first Italian restaurant. Triola successfully owned and operated Azzarelli's (at five different locations during the past twelve years) which received many awards and accolades for his food. Chef Triola has been wowing his clientele, including the Houston Rockets, Plex athletes, and other Houston locals, with Traditional Italian, New American and Southwestern inspired menu items. Catering clients include by not limited to Aldine school District, Cameron Drilling, BP, Chevron, Shell Oil and all others listed before. Even Rachel Ray praised his spaghetti and meatballs in her national magazine, Every Day with Rachel Ray.

Currently, Triola has more than 60 individuals and families that he provides both healthy and gourmet meals to on a weekly basis.
